PTC Web Desk: In a significant step towards modernising police training, the Punjab Police and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, have initiated key measures under their ongoing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate academic accreditation and advanced training into police programmes across the state.

As part of this initiative, a high-level delegation from RRU, led by Dr Jasbir Kaur Thadhani, Dean at Rashtriya Raksha University, held discussions with senior officials at the Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur. The meeting focused on affiliating the academy’s training syllabus with RRU, allowing police recruits to earn diploma and postgraduate diploma qualifications through accredited training modules.

In a parallel development, RRU’s cybersecurity faculty conducted a two-day intensive training programme on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for officers of the Punjab Police Technical Services Wing at the Punjab Police Headquarters.

The training witnessed participation from over 250 officers representing districts across Punjab. The sessions covered AI and ML applications in cybercrime detection, digital investigation, and data security, providing officers with essential exposure to emerging technologies in policing.

Rashtriya Raksha University, an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has signed MoUs with multiple state police forces across India. Under these collaborations, RRU accredits police training programmes, delivers expert-led training modules and partners with law enforcement agencies to modernise security education.

During their visit, RRU officials engaged with senior Punjab Police officials across various departments to outline future training and research collaborations in internal security and digital policing.

As India’s premier National Security and Police University, Rashtriya Raksha University continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s security framework through cutting-edge training, research, and institutional collaborations with police and paramilitary forces.
