PTC Web Desk: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains was bitten by a venomous snake while participating in flood rescue operations in his Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency on August 15.

In a recent post on his social media account, the minister provided an update on his health following a medical evaluation.

"Thankfully, the flood situation in my constituency, Shri Anandpur Sahib, has improved. While engaged in the rescue efforts, I suffered a venomous snake bite on the night of August 15. However, this did not waver my resolve to assist my community. Through divine blessings and the support of people's love, I have now recovered. The venom's impact is subsiding, and my blood tests have returned normal results. Rab Sabna te Meher rakhan," Harjot Singh Bains shared in a tweet.

It is learnt that the minister began experiencing discomfort the next day. Subsequently, he was taken to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh.

He experienced body aches; and believing it to be a result of exhaustion, he took medication and continued his presence in the affected villages, staying there until late evening.

Upon his arrival in Chandigarh, his condition had already begun to worsen, prompting his admission to the PGI. During his examination, doctors identified a snake bite on one of his feet. X users praised the minister for his efforts during these testing times and wished him a speedy recovery.
