Punjab Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa visits Nagda water supply scheme of Madhya Pradesh
Chandigarh, January 6: Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shankar Zimpa along with a delegation from state visited Nagda, a multi-village water supply scheme based on river water. Water is being supplied to 22 villages through this scheme. The objective of the visit was to gain knowledge about the financial and technical sustainability for the mega projects of Punjab to provide clean and safe water to the villages affected by water quality in the long run.
During this visit, Jimpa was told that water is collected by building a dam on the Chambal river at Nagda in Madhya Pradesh. After this, post purification and disinfection in the water treatment plant, it is sent to the tanks of 22 villages through the plant's tank. On behalf of the concerned Gram Panchayats and Water and Sanitation Committees, a monthly bill of Rs.80 per month per household is collected from the consumers. Water is supplied to every household in all the 22 villages through this scheme.

On this occasion, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Jimpa gave detailed information about the ongoing canal and river water-based projects in Punjab. He told that Punjab is one of the leading states of the country where piped drinking water is being supplied to all the rural houses of Punjab.
Later, Jimpa instructed the delegation from Punjab that visited Nagda Project to implement the good practices of Nagda Project in the ongoing canal projects in Punjab.
