Ludhiana CMS cash robbery: Know what led to the arrest of mastermind Mandeep Kaur, husband Jaswinder Singh from Uttarakhand

Ludhiana/Chamoli: In a major breakthrough in the Ludhiana CMS cash robbery case, the Ludhiana Police in a joint operation with the Counter Intelligence Unit on Saturday arrested mastermind Mandeep Kaur, alias Mona, and her husband Jaswinder Singh from Uttarakhand.  Cash has also been recovered from their possession. 

Addressing mediapersons, Ludhiana police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sandhu said all accused had made a wish that  they would pay obeisance at  Kedarnath, Haridwar and Hemkunt Sahib after a 'successful robbery'. Mastermind Mandeep Kaur alias Mona (Dacoit Hasina) and her husband were arrested by a team of Punjab Police Inspectors Kulwant Singh and Beant Juneja while the accused were returning from Hemkund Sahib.



The Ludhiana's top cop said when the duo got to know that their accomplices had been arrested, "they begged pardon for the mistake at Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib".  He said Mandeep got married to Jaswinder in February this year.

Sharing their modus operandi, he said there were two modules each comprising five persons. He said Mandeep was leading the module that was in the car while the other module was led by Manjinder, who was employed at the firm. All accused chose to wear black clothes to evade arrest. He said they were yet to discover DVR from the CMS firm, where the robbery took place. He said Rs 12 lakh had been recovered from the dickey of Mandeep's mother's scooty. 

The Ludhiana police official said they had procured four-day remand of the accused arrested earlier. Mandeep and her husband would be produced in the local court late this evening. 

Earlier, sharing the information on Twitter, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said, "Proud of  @Ludhiana_Police & Counter Intelligence unit to solve the CMS Cash Robbery Case after arresting fugitive Mandeep Kaur @ Mona & her Husband Jaswinder Singh from #Uttarakhand. Kingpin of #LudhianaCashVanRobbery arrested in less than 100 hrs. 



What we know so far?

At least 10 robbers had barged into the office of CMS Info Systems Limited, a cash management firm, in Aman Park of New Rajguru Nagar of Ludhiana last Saturday (June 10) and fled with Rs 8.49 crore in cash. Company officials earlier told the police that the looted cash could be around Rs 7 crore, but after the counting of the cash left behind, the robbery was pegged at Rs 8.49 crore, the biggest robbery in the city in the past several decades.

Later, during the investigations, it came to the fore that a 28-year-old woman, identified as Mandeep Kaur (Dacoit Hasina) was the mastermind behind the Rs 8.5-crore Ludhiana CMS cash robbery case. 


One of biggest heists was cracked in less than 60 hours
The Police Commissionerate achieved a major breakthrough in just 60 hours and arrested six robbers. an amount of Rs 5 crore looted cash was also recovered from their possession.


Cash was also hidden in septic tank
Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said an amount of Rs 50 lakh was recovered from the house of Manjinder Singh in Abuwal village. Manjinder Singh was employed at the firm. He had allegedly hidden the cash in a septic tank after wrapping the bundles in a polythene bag.

Operation ‘Let’s Cage the Queen Bee’

On Friday, the Ludhiana police launched Operation “Let’s Cage the Queen Bee” to catch the main mastermind Mandeep Kaur (Dacoit Hasina) and her husband.

Mandeep Kaur in connivance with her friend and CMS employee Manjinder Singh, had planned the robbery. They along with their eight accomplices looted Rs 8.49 crore from the office of the CMS firm on the wee hours of 10.

Manjinder was arrested earlier and Rs 1.50 crore was recovered from his possession. However, Mandeep Kaur and her husband Jaswinder Singh from Barnala managed to give the police a slip for a week. However, they were also arrested on Saturday from Uttarakhand. 

Who all arrested so far?

Those arrested earlier are Manjinder Singh, Mandeep Singh, Harvinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Harpreet Singh and Narinder Singh.

Two continue to evade arrest

Arun Kumar and Nanni continue to evade police arrest.
