Punjab floods: CM Mann reviews relief measures in flood-hit areas of Ghaggar, promises all possible help

Sangrur, July 13: Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday inspected the flood-ravaged areas of the state. He was accompanied by senior officials of the state government and the district administration.

CM Bhagwant Mann entered the waterlogged fields to oversee relief measures during his visit to flood-hit areas of the Ghaggar river. He monitored the operations through the movement of a JCB. The CM asked officials to remain in the field and ensure that people don’t face any problem.


The Punjab Chief Minister said even advanced countries such as USA, Spain and others were facing problem of floods. He said incessant rains in the hill states and Punjab had led to this situation in the state. However, Bhagwant Mann claimed that his government was committed to bailing ou oversee relief measures during his visit to flood-hit areas of the Ghaggar river.


Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said all efforts were being made to save the lives of people. He asked those residing in low-lying and flood-prone areas to move to safer places. Bhagwant Mann said the state government was duty bound to ensure that people did not face any sort of inconvenience.

The Chief Minister urged all Punjabis to join hands for combatting this natural disaster. He that the situation was alarming, but still the state government was making every effort to minimise the loss of lives.

The Punjab CM said a special girdawari would be conducted to ascertain the loss of crops, houses and others due to heavy rain in the state. Deputy Commissioners had been directed to immediately carry out girdawari in the areas lashed by rains to ascertain damage caused to crops, houses, animals and others on priority. Bhagwant Mann assured the people that the government was committed to safeguarding their interests against nature’s fury.



The Chief Minister said the state government was keeping a regular tab on the situation arising in the aftermath of the incessant rains across the state. 

Bhagwant Mann said he was personally reviewing the situation every minute and from every corner of the state. He said all Cabinet ministers, MLAs and officials were in their respective areas and reaching out to the needy in this hour of crisis.
