Punjab encounter: Wanted gangster Lovish Grover arrested after shootout in Mohali’s Zirakpur
PTC Web Desk: Notorious gangster Lovish Grover (25), a resident of Ludhiana, was arrested late Friday night following a brief shootout with the police at a housing society in Zirakpur.
According to Mohali Rural SP Manpreet Singh, the police received intelligence that Lovish Grover was hiding in a third-floor flat at Shiva Enclave on VIP Road and was allegedly planning a major crime. Acting on this tip-off, a team led by Zirakpur SHO Inspector Jaskawal Singh raided the location around 9.15 pm.
When officials knocked on the door, Grover initially opened it but, upon spotting the police, attempted to shut it and hide. Failing to do so, he retreated to a room and fired at the police. In response, the police retaliated, shooting him in the leg before successfully overpowering and arresting him.
A search of the flat led to the recovery of three firearms, including a Glock pistol, a rifle, and a .30 bore pistol, along with ammunition.
Grover has multiple criminal cases registered against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and violations under the Arms Act. Further investigations are underway.
