Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann issues stricter guidelines for licensed arms

Chandigarh, November 13: The Punjab government has started cracking down on the state's infamous gun culture and tightened arms regulation. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued strict guidelines for gun ownership and display, including a prohibition on the public display of weapons both online and offline.

Songs that glorify weapons or violence will also be prohibited.

According to the new instructions, all existing arms licences will be thoroughly reviewed within the next three months, and no new licences will be granted unless the District Collector is personally convinced that extraordinary grounds exist for doing so.

Hasty or reckless use of weapons, or celebratory firing, which endangers human life or the personal safety of others, is a punishable offence, and violators will face prosecution.

To combat gun glorification and illegal gun possession, random checks will be conducted in various areas.

A police report will be filed, and strict action will be taken against those who engage in hate speech against any community.
