Punjab Budget Session: SC to hear Punjab govt’s plea challenging Guv’s ‘refusal’
Punjab Budget Session 2023: The Supreme Court agreed to hear Punjab government plea challenging refusal of the governor to grant permission to the government to summon the budget session.
The plea mentioned seeking an urgent hearing before a bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

Meanwhile, Punjab Government approached the Supreme Court seeking to call the budget session scheduled in the State legislature. The petition has been filed through advocate Shadan Farasat.
Notably, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit denied permission to the Punjab Budget session proposed for March 3.
The Governor wrote a letter to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann requesting him to send him the criteria and details of the entire selection process and lambasted the Chief Minister, questioning various decisions made by the government in recent weeks.
In the reply to which, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raised questions over the qualification and appointment of the Governor.

Probably, perturbed over this, Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday denied approval to the Punjab Budget Session 2023 for now.
