Punjab Budget Session: Pandemonium in assembly over LoP Bajwa's remarks against MP Seechewal
PTC News Desk: A day after Punjab budget was presented in the assembly, the session was marred by massive uproar. The Congress MLAs on Thursday staged a walkout during the Zero Hour for not being allowed to bring resolution on the Bharat Ratna for Saheed Bhagat Singh.
The session was marred by ruckus as soon as leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa started speaking on Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The Treasury Benches, led by Education Minister Harjot Bains and MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann,targeted Bajwa over his remarks against environmentalist and Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal during yesterday’s Vidhan Sabha proceedings.
Bajwa claimed that the Treasury Benches had orchestrated a deliberate attack to silence him.
Tensions escalated as opposition Congress MLAs and members of the Treasury Benches exchanged accusations. Education Minister Bains criticized Bajwa, stating that his remarks against Seechewal had offended Punjabis.
Calling for a resolution to condemn Bajwa, MLA Inderjit Kaur demanded his expulsion from the House. Minister Aman Arora also condemned Bajwa for his comments about Seechewal.
