Punjab: BSF shoots down Pakistani intruder along Pathankot border
Pathankot: Ahead of Independence Day 2023 and in the wee hours of Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) troops thwarted an infiltration attempt across the India-Pakistan border by fatally shooting an intruder from Pakistan in Pathankot district of Punjab.
BSF reported detecting suspicious movements near the border security fence along the international border early in the morning at around 12:30 am near the bordering Simbal Sakol village in the Pathankot District.

The troops quickly assumed positions in response. As the intruders continued to approach the border fence, the BSF personnel opened fire in self-defence, resulting in the neutralisation of the intruder.
BSF Punjab Frontier also took to their Twitter handle (now known as X) and posted a picture of Pakistani intruder and wrote, "Pakistani Infiltartor neutralized #AlertBSF tps observed suspicious movement of a Pakistani infiltrator near Vil-Simbal Sakol,#Pathankot. The infiltrator was repeatedly challenged & subsequently neutralized in self-defense to prevent imminent danger."

A statement issued by the BSF, Punjab Frontier states that despite repeated warnings, the intruder persisted in advancing towards the border fencing, prompting the BSF to take action.
Meanwhile, earlier on August 11, the BSF reported seeing some suspicious activity close to the border security fence on the international boundary and opened fire on the invaders as they continued to approach the border fence.
In May of this month, the BSF detained a Pakistani national close to the International Border in Punjab while killing two unidentified intruders from Pakistan who had entered Indian Territory and found three bags of suspected contraband products.
Vigilant troops of BSF once again foiled the nefarious attempts of anti-national elements to enter into Indian Territory.
