Punjab: Bride critically injured by gunshot at wedding in Ferozepur; brother and venue owner booked
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident in Punjab's Ferozepur, a bride was critically injured after being shot in the forehead during her wedding ceremony. The unfortunate event occurred during the traditional vidai (departure) ritual on Sunday evening in a village in Punjab's Ferozepur. The bride, identified as Baljinder Kaur, was immediately rushed to a private hospital before being referred to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana.
According to sources, her brother, Gurpreet Singh, accidentally fired a shot from a pistol while embracing his sister during the vidai. The bullet struck the bride. The police immediately arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
The police have registered an FIR against Gurpreet Singh and the owner of the wedding venue, Ashok Kumar. Eyewitnesses said everything was proceeding smoothly, with the 'vidai' preparations underway and guests dancing nearby. All of a sudden, she collapsed after being hit by bullet and there was a choas all around.
The bride's condition is stated to be critical. Further investigations are on.
