'Punjab Bandh' on December 30: Farmers to halt trains and buses from 7 am to 4 pm
PTC Web Desk: Farmers on Thursday convened a meeting at the Khanauri border, where they declared a Punjab Bandh on December 30. During the bandh, all trains, buses, and both public and private institutions will remain shut.
Following the meeting, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the decision was made unanimously to completely block both road and rail traffic during the bandh, which will be observed from 7 am to 4 PM. The meeting saw participation from members of various groups, including educational staff, transport workers, electricity employees, ASHA workers, ex-servicemen, professors, journalists, and business associations.
On Friday, a meeting will be held at 3 pm in all districts of Punjab to finalise the details for the bandh. Banners informing people about Punjab bandh will be placed at toll plazas, and bus conductors will inform passengers about the shutdown before issuing tickets. Gurdwaras across villages will also continue to urge people to support the bandh.
Meanwhile, farmer leader jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 31 days at the Khanauri border demanding MSP for crops and other issues, is in critical condition. His health has deteriorated to the point where he is no longer able to speak and is communicating only through gestures. Doctors have issued a medical bulletin stating that Dallewal's blood pressure is dangerously low, and he has not eaten anything for the past 31 days, surviving only on water. His hands have turned yellow, indicating severe health risks.
Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad has called for government doctors to conduct a complete set of tests on Dallewal, including checking his ketone levels, and to release the results to the public. The Supreme Court will hear the matter regarding Dallewal’s health on January 2.
