Punjab: 8 killed, several injured as truck runs over pilgrims in Hoshiarpur’s Garhshankar
Punjab, April 13: Eight were killed and several others sustained injuries after a truck ran over pilgrims in the Garhshankar area of the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab on Thursday.
As per the statement of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daljit Singh Khakh, “Eight people died on spot.”

The incident occurred when pilgrim were on their way to Charan Choh Ganga Khuralgarh Sahib Gurdwara in the Garhshankar sub-division.
The DSP said the deceased were identified as Rahul, Sudesh Pal, Santosh, Angoori, Kunti, Geeta and Ramoh.
Bodies of the deceased have been kept in a mortuary, police officials said.
Among the injured, one person identified as Teena has been shifted to the PGI Hospital, Chandigarh, "She is recovering," the official said.
Pilgrims have been flocking to Khuralgarh Sahib, a place associated with Guru Ravidas, in view of the Baisakhi festival.
