Punjab: 18.22 kg heroin seized in Amritsar, 1 cross-border drug peddler arrested
PTC News Desk: In a joint operation conducted by Anti-Narcotic Task Force and Border Range, Amritsar, officials have seized 18.22 kg of heroin from Khaira village in Amritsar district.
The officials have arrested Hira Singh who is accused of having close links with Pakistan-based anti-national entities and peddlers.
'In a well-coordinated operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Border Range, Amritsar, apprehends Hira Singh @ Hira of Village Khaira, PS Gharinda, Amritsar and recovers 18.227 Kg Heroin,' said Gaurav Yadav, DGP, Punjab Police, on X.
The preliminary investigation suggested that Hira Singh and his aide are associated with Pakistan based peddler and carrying out cross-border smuggling. "Investigations reveals Hira Singh and his associate Kulwinder Singh @ Kinda of Village Dauke, PS Gharinda, were linked to #Pakistan-based drug trafficker Billa. They were smuggling heroin from across the border and supplying it as per the trafficker’s instructions," DGP further said.
The Punjab police asserted that investigations and raids are being conducted to dismantle the entire network and arrest the perpetrators.
"Raids are underway to nab Kulwinder Singh, and further investigation is in progress to dismantle the entire network. Punjab police remains relentless in its war against drugs, ensuring a safer and drug-free future for the state," he said.
