PTC Network sends request letter to Jathedar of Sri Akal Takth Sahib

PTC News Desk: On Wednesday, PTC Network submitted a request letter to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh Ji of Akal Takht Sahib, urging action against the violations occurring during the broadcast of Gurbani on various media platforms, including YouTube.

The letter highlighted that how some media organisations and channels demand donations through advertisements during Gurbani broadcast, reaping substantial profits without facing consequences.

Earlier, in 2020 also PTC Network submitted a similar request letter, but no action was taken.

In the letter issued today, PTC Network demanded that the earnings generated through advertisements and sponsorships on these channels should be promptly transferred to Guru's Golak (donation box).

It has been also noted that in some instances, obscene content is promoted on social media using Gurbani which goes against Sikh ethics and the action against it has also not been addressed yet.

Notably, PTC Network has diligently dedicated its services to broadcasting Gurbani without seeking any return. However, in today's age of social media, where several channels disregard Sikh ethics, this is a matter of concern.

Advertisements and sponsorships continue to be featured on various platforms while Gurbani was broadcasted from Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib. Similarly, solicitation of sponsorships and donations occurs during Gurbani broadcasts from Shri Harmandir Sahib Patna Sahib. PTC has presented evidence of these violations to Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Despite these concerns, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has not taken decisive action to prevent the violations of Sikh ethics in Gurbani broadcast.

In the letter, PTC Network has requested the newly appointed Jathedar to address this issue promptly and take strict measures to resolve it.
