Promote ‘Gatka’ in other states is need of hour, says Rajinder Singh Sohal
Mohali, April 25: Himachal Youth Brigade Paonta Sahib, under the leadership of the Gatka Federation of India, organized the 3rd National "Virsa Sambhal" Gatka Competition at the holy land of Paonta Sahib in Himachal. Giving more information about this in Mohali, Gatka Federation of India's acting president Rajinder Singh Sohal said that a large number of teams participated in these competitions organized in memory of Baba Harbhajan Singh and Baba Dharam Singh Ji.
He further said that organizing Gatka competitions in the holy land of Paonta Sahib where Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji had spent more than four years of his life was a great way to connect the coming generations with their heritage and heritage game Gatka is a commendable effort.

In his address, he said that Gatka is a priceless gift of our gurus. This not only helps the kids to stay away from drugs and connect with Bani but also motivates the players to stay disciplined.
On this occasion, the General Secretary of Gatka Federation of India, Baljinder Singh Toor, appreciated this valuable initiative taken by Himachal Youth Brigade and said that this brigade is doing very good work. It is a matter of happiness that a large number of Khalsa children have come to play Gatka. These children are always attached to the words of their gurus. He said that Shastra Vidya has always proved helpful in keeping children away from drugs.
Earlier, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, who is also the President of the Punjab Gatka Association, distributed prizes to the winning players and encouraged the children present and said that he prays that these children should always listen to Guru Sahib's Bani and remain in 'Bana' like this. Tajinder Singh and his mother, along with the family, were especially honored on this occasion.
It is noteworthy that Paonta Sahib is the only city whose foundation stone was laid by the Tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself and named it Paonta Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed in this city for more than four years. At this place, Guru Ji decorated the court of poets with 52 poets. In 1687, the Battle of Bhangani took place near this city in which Guru Sahib fought his first battle and emerged victorious.
On this occasion, Baljinder Singh Toor, General Secretary Gatka Federation of India, Jagdish Singh Kurali, Jaswinder Singh Pabla, Manwinder Singh Vicky, Jagkiran Kaur waraich Joint Secretary, besides a large number of dignitaries were present.
