PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has intensified its crackdown on drug traffickers. In a major action on Tuesday, the police demolished two lavish houses belonging to alleged drug traffickers in Sangrur, the CM's home district. The operation was carried out under tight security arrangements by the police.

One of the demolished houses belonged to Rajpal Singh and his wife, Ratto, both of whom have 11 cases registered against them under the NDPS Act, dating back to 2017. The second house was owned by a man named Lakho, who has been facing four NDPS Act cases since 2018. Officials stated that both properties were illegally constructed. The demolition was conducted as per government orders, ensuring strict law enforcement.

The Punjab government has launched an aggressive campaign, ‘Yudh Nasheyan De Virudh’ (War Against Drugs), to curb drug-related crimes in the state. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav recently held a meeting with senior officials to strengthen the anti-drug campaign, introducing reforms such as a two-year tenure policy for police station clerks.

In just 17 days, the police have arrested 2,575 drug traffickers and registered 1,651 FIRs across Punjab. As part of its ongoing efforts, the Punjab Government has also launched the ‘Safe Punjab’ Anti-Drug Helpline – 9779100200, encouraging citizens to report drug-related activities.
