PTC Web Desk: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was reportedly detained by Pakistani Rangers along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Ferozepur sector. During the incident, the soldier’s AK-47 rifle was also seized by the Pakistani forces.

According to reports, the detained soldier has been identified as PK Singh, a native of Hooghly district, West Bengal. The incident occurred near gate number 208/1 at the Indo-Pak border where the soldier was stationed for the security of Indian farmers harvesting wheat near the fence line. The battalion had recently arrived from Srinagar and was deployed at Mamdot.

The soldier, unfamiliar with the zero line due to his recent transfer, inadvertently crossed the international boundary. At that moment, Pakistani Rangers approached from Jalloke post, detained the soldier, and took possession of his weapon. Later, two photographs of the soldier were released by Pakistani media—one showing him blindfolded, and the other with his AK-47 rifle and a water bottle.

Despite attempts at communication, the soldier has not yet been released. BSF officials have remained in touch with Pakistani Rangers in an effort to negotiate his return. However, sources indicate that the Pak Rangers have declined to participate in a flag meeting at Hussainiwala, reportedly due to the prevailing diplomatic strain following the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed 26 lives.

However, no official statement has been issued by the BSF as of now.
