Golden Temple witnesses overwhelming influx of devotees; ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’ reverberates through gurdwara sahib
PTC Web Desk: The Golden Temple in Amritsar witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees and tourists from across the globe as they welcomed the New Year with spiritual zeal. Starting early on December 31, throngs of worshippers arrived to pay obeisance, culminating in over 2 lakh devotees offering prayers between 9 pm and midnight.
The Golden Temple's premises were so crowded that there was hardly any room to stand. The authorities estimate that January 1, 2025, may see close to 3 lakh devotees visiting the holy shrine. The gathering began building from 9 pm on New Year’s Eve, with the parikrama packed with devotees, leaving little space for movement.
As the clock struck midnight, over 1 lakh devotees filled the shrine's premises, resonating the air with thunderous chants of ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’. Many sat in reverence, chanting hymns and reciting the sacred Sukhmani Sahib as they awaited the New Year’s arrival.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) ensured seamless arrangements to manage the overwhelming crowd. Special provisions were made to accommodate the influx, including opening additional rooms adjacent to the langar hall to serve the devotees. Despite the large numbers, the langar service ran smoothly.
With every corner of the Golden Temple occupied, devotees found places to sit, even on mats laid in the parikrama, as they awaited the dawn of 2025. The shrine exuded an atmosphere of unity and devotion, with worshippers chanting and embracing the sacred moment.
The Golden Temple continues to serve as a beacon of faith and spirituality, drawing millions to seek blessings and start their year with divine grace.
