NCB detains Moosewala case accused gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria under PIT-NDPS Act for 1 year
PTC News Desk: The Narcotics Control Bureau detained gangster-cum-drug peddler Jaggu Bhagwanpuria under the PIT-NDPS Act (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988) for a minimum period of one year. He has been sent to Silchar Jail in Assam.
Notably, Bhagwanpuria is also an accused in Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
The gangster was transferred to Assam Jail from Bathinda high security jail under heavy security with deposition of both Punjab police and NCB officials.
Bhagwanpuria, whose real name is Jagdeep Singh, is the first Punjab gangster detained under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Singh, hailing from Bhagwanpur village within the Kot Surat police limits in Gurdaspur, is infamous for his involvement in cross-border drug smuggling along the India-Pakistan border. According to sources, even while serving extended prison terms for various NDPS-related offenses, he reportedly managed to coordinate drug trafficking, extortion, and acts of violence using encrypted communication channels and a wide network of accomplices.
