PTC News Desk: Senior Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has sparked a debate over his claims regarding his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu's cancer treatment with home remedies. The trouble for the couple seems to be mounting as a legal notice has been sent to Navjot Kaur Sidhu over diet claims in cancer cure.

Raipur Chhattisgarh Civil Society has slapped a notice of Rs 850 cr seeking clarification over his statements within 40 days.

Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, convenor of Chhattisgarh Civil Society, said that after hearing about your diet, a situation of ambiguity and opposition to allopathy medicine is being created among cancer patients in the country and abroad. The notice further states that if former cricketer doesn't offer apology over his remarks or present corroborating documents that are scientifically backed within seven days, then he will knock the doors of the court.

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu unveiled the diet plan on Monday, claiming that it played a crucial role in the treatment of his wife, Navjot Kaur's, cancer. Sidhu claimed that with the help of this diet, he was able to help his wife fight the disease. Sidhu further expressed his strong belief that doctors are akin to gods, adding that he is fortunate to have a doctor in his own home, referring to his wife.

Sidhu' claims however were encountered with strong opposition from medical fraternity. Earlier Tata Memorial Hospital also issued an advisory debunking effectiveness of home remedies such as turmeric, neem, and diet changes in curing cancer. The hospital asserted that there is no scientific data that backs such claims and also urged the public to to seek professional medical help if cancer symptoms begin to appear.
