Navjot Singh Sidhu shares wife's diet plan for cancer cure; medical fraternity stands divided over ex-cricketer's claim

PTC Web Desk:  Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu unveiled the diet plan on Monday, claiming that it played a crucial role in the treatment of his wife, Navjot Kaur's, cancer. Sidhu claimed that with the help of this diet, he was able to help his wife fight the disease. Sidhu further expressed his strong belief that doctors are akin to gods, adding that he is fortunate to have a doctor in his own home, referring to his wife.

The diet plan, according to Navjot Singh Sidhu, can help boost the immune system while fighting cancer and may aid in promoting a positive lifestyle change. He clarified that the diet was not his creation but was based on the research and observations of several renowned doctors.

Navjot Kaur shared her personal experience with the diet. She revealed that before following this diet, she believed that treatment was the only answer, while Ayurveda was of lesser importance. But over time, after incorporating these practices, she noticed a significant change in her body. Her weight began to decrease, swelling reduced, and she began to feel better. "I have lost 30 kg," she said, adding that even after feeling better, it was important to follow up with medical reports.

Here are the key points of the diet plan

Water intake: Sidhu recommends drinking at least 7-8 glasses of pure water daily. This helps detoxify the body and aids recovery.

Tea alternatives: Rather than regular tea, it is advised to drink herbal concoctions made with tulsi, ginger, cinnamon, and other ingredients.

Meal timing: It is suggested to maintain at least a 12-17 hour gap between dinner and bedtime, starting meals early in the morning.

Natural juices: The diet emphasises the regular consumption of juices such as lemon water, carrot juice, beetroot juice, pomegranate juice, and aloe vera juice.

Physical activity: Light physical exercises such as yoga and walking should be included in daily routines.

Cancer-fighting Foods: Foods like sprouted grains, green vegetables (spinach, broccoli), and fruits (pomegranate, papaya, apple) are recommended.

Avoid processed foods: Packaged foods, refined oils, fast foods, sodas, and carbonated drinks are to be strictly avoided.

Mental health: Navjot Singh Sidhu also highlighted the importance of maintaining mental peace and positivity. Family support, positive thinking, and meditation should be integral parts of the treatment.

He said dairy products should be replaced with with coconut or almond milk. Use coconut oil for cooking. Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.

A day before the release of the diet plan, Sidhu took his wife on an outing to Amritsar. He shared a video on his social media account, where he stated that doctors' treatments are paramount. However, he added that he would also share his own methods for cancer treatment, which he claimed came at no cost.

' We removed sugar completely', says Sidhu

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu explained in detail the specific items in his wife’s diet. He said they removed sugar and milk from her diet and replaced them with turmeric and lemon water. Every morning, Sidhu gave his wife a concoction of warm water, raw turmeric, garlic, and apple cider vinegar. After half an hour, he provided her with a mixture of neem leaves and basil.

Sidhu also replaced traditional tea with a herbal mix of cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, sweetened with a small amount of jaggery. Additionally, his wife was given white pumpkin juice and berries, such as blueberries. If she couldn’t afford blueberries, he suggested pomegranate or amla (Indian gooseberry) as alternatives.

The diet also included a juice made from beetroot, carrot, and amla, along with dry fruits. In the evening, she would be given boiled quinoa or sometimes roti made with almond flour, accompanied by vegetables and salad. Instead of regular milk, they used coconut milk or almond milk. Furthermore, they introduced four different seeds—sesame, flax, sunflower, and pumpkin—into her diet.

Sidhu also emphasized the importance of water quality, advising his wife to drink water with cucumber and lemon added, and to ensure that the water’s pH level was around 7. Regular exercise was also an essential part of the regimen, with Sidhu claiming that an acidic body could be conducive to cancer growth, and alkaline foods were better for health.

Medical authorities reject claims

Sidhu’s claims about curing his wife’s cancer with the diet were met with skepticism by some medical institutions. The Tata Memorial Hospital issued an advisory in response to his video, discrediting the effectiveness of home remedies such as turmeric, neem, and diet changes in curing cancer. The hospital stated that there is no clinical data supporting such claims and urged the public to seek professional medical advice if cancer symptoms appear. They also advised that cancer treatment through certified methods like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation remains the most effective approach.
