Mohali : 2 masked men rob jewellery shop at gunpoint in Phase 10
Mohali : In broad daylight, two masked men robbed a jewellery shop at gunpoint in broad daylight at the Phase 10 market on Thursday, escaping with gold worth approximately Rs 15 lakh.
The incident unfolded at around 4:45 pm at GK Jewellers, located at booth number 127 on Thursday.
A woman named Gitanjali, who was in the shop at the time, was taken as a hostage. The robbers covered the gold with a cloth and fled.
As per eye-witness, youth came to Phase 10 market in Mohali on Activa and parked the vehicle at the backside of the booth. The nearby shopkeepers chased the robbers and tried to catch them, but masked men ran away in different directions.
The vehicle of robbers has been seized by police.
The entire robbery was captured on the shop's CCTV cameras.
The footage shows one of the robbers, wearing a blue shirt, hat, and mask, initially entering the shop and sitting on a chair. He conversed with Gitanjali for a while before his accomplice, disguised with a fake moustache and beard, joined him. One youth pointed a gun at Gitanjali while the other collected the gold.
Upon receiving the information, SHO of CIA Staff Phase-11, Naveen Pal Lahil, arrived at the scene with his team. Seeing the CCTV footage, Police registered a case against the unidentified robbers under robbery charges.
