Major mishap in Mohali's Sohana; 5-storey building collapses, several dead
PTC Web Desk: A five-storey building in Mohali’s Sohana village collapsed Saturday evening, raising fears of several casualties. It has been reported that between 50 and 100 persons are trapped under the rubble. According to sources, the building housed a gym, where a large number of youths were exercising in the evening when the incident occurred.
The police and other rescue teams have arrived at the scene and have already begun relief operations. It is also reported that local residents have started their own rescue efforts, but the debris has spread over a wide area, causing delays in the operation.
The building also contained several residential quarters where many migrant families lived. Reports suggest that construction work was ongoing in a nearby building, where the basement was being excavated. This likely led to structural shifts in the five-storey building, which eventually caused it to collapse. The building was home to a gym named "Royal Gym." Rescue operations continue as the police work to locate and assist those trapped.
