Ludhiana: Admin, Army and police teams plugs breaches in Doraha canal

Ludhiana, July 10:  With the concerted efforts of district administration, army and police, two breaches were successfully plugged in Doraha on Monday morning. 

A team of district administration led by Payal SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar had started plugging operations in Doraha on early morning. Due to breaches in Siswan, excess water had flown into Doraha canal led to breach in Doraha and Rajgarh villages. The officials from various departments including irrigation, revenue, army, and police along with MGNREGA workers under the supervision of SDM were put on the job to plug this breach with the sandbags, JCBs.

SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar said this work was carried out on war footing level to ensure that breaches get plugged soon. She stated that the entire district administration was with the people in this hour of distress and officials were making every effort to provide relief to the flood-affected residents of the villages.

Records were broken as heavy rain lashed many areas of North India over the past two days. 

In a recent bout of torrential rains, several parts of North India were severely affected, resulting in the loss of lives and extensive damage to infrastructure. The heavy downpour caused landslides and flash floods, leading to the several deaths
