Punjab: Jalandhar police arrest Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s brother
Amritpal Singh’s brother arrested: In a major breakthrough and as a part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Punjab, Jalandhar police arrest ‘Waris Punjab De’ head and Member of Parliament (MP) from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib Amritpal Singh’s brother Harpreet Singh.
In an official statement Jalandhar SSP said that Amritpal Singh’s brother Harpreet Singh was arrested for possessing drugs (ICE) at a checkpoint in Phillaur and police recovered 4 grams of ice drug (a form of methamphetamine) from Harpreet Singh.
Harpreet Singh was also accompanied by a friend Lovepreet from the village of Cheema Bath , who has also been detained. Individuals have been booked under Sections 22 and 27 of the NDPS Act, with Section 29 being added later.
Following his arrest, a series of medical tests were conducted, which has been confirmed positive for urine test and blood test.
The investigation also revealed that Harpreet Singh made a payment of Rs 10,000 presumably linked to the procurement of the drugs.
This financial transaction is now under scrutiny as part of the broader investigation into the drug trafficking network.
Responding to the arrest, Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh said, “Police have not provided any information to us about our son’s detention.”
Further reacting to the arrest of Harpreet Singh, Amritpal Singh’s father added, “It is ploy to defame the family.”
Punjab has been dealing with significant drug-related issues, and the police have been intensifying efforts to curb the menace.
