PTC Web Desk: A Mohali court on Friday convicted Jalandhar-based pastor Bajinder Singh in a sexual assault case involving a woman from Zirakpur. The court has scheduled April 1 for sentencing.

Pastor Bajinder Singh, known for claiming to heal ailments through miracles, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman. He appeared before the court on Monday, after which the verdict was reserved. On Friday, the court declared him guilty.

The Zirakpur police registered a case against Bajinder Singh and six others following the victim’s complaint. The co-accused include: Akbar Bhatti, Rajesh Chaudhary, Sucha Singh, Jatinder Kumar, Sitar Ali and Sandeep alias Pehlwan. The case was registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He had been earlier arrested in connection with the case.

A video of pastor Bajinder Singh physically assaulting a woman surfaced on March 16, showing him slapping her inside his Chandigarh office. The video, dated February 14, went viral, revealing that the victim, a Mohali resident, had worked at his organisation.

The woman had earlier filed a complaint against the pastor, alleging sexual misconduct at his Jalandhar-based church, "The Church of Glory and Wisdom." She claimed he started sending her inappropriate messages, summoned her alone to his cabin, and engaged in unwanted advances.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by the Kapurthala police to probe the allegations. Her statements were recorded as part of the investigation. The court will announce Bajinder Singh’s sentence on April 1.
