Jalandhar: Punjab police nabs 5 gangsters near Bhogpur in 8-hour long search operation
Bhogpur, November 1, 2022: Punjab Police has arrested group of gangsters from agriculture fields in village Chak Jhande near Bhogpur. Search operation is continuing since last 6 hours.
Two gangsters were arrested in the morning and two later. Automatic weapons have also been recovered from them. Senior police officers are interrogating them.
Jalandhar Rural SSP Swarandeep Singh while addressing the media said five gangsters have been arrested and the sixth one is still absconding.
He said, “Initial tip-off came from Phillaur SHO Inspector Surinder. Even Delhi Police had information that some accused wanted by them in criminal cases were hiding in the village. During the joint raid conducted on Tuesday morning, an encounter took place. The gangsters fired three rounds. In retaliation, police also fired two rounds.”
He said while some of those arrested are from Amritsar, others are from Jalandhar.
The property in which the gangsters were taking shelter was vacant and reportedly is owned by an NRI.
The five accused had received weapons from a gang.
