Jalandhar: 9-year-old boy dies after coming in contact with 66kV power line
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident reported from Jalandhar’s Guru Nanakpura West, a nine-year-old boy suffered severe burns after coming in contact with a 66kV power line. The child, identified as Aarav, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment in Amritsar. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
According to reports, Aarav was playing on a Powercom-owned plot when he moved near a park and threw a stone-wrapped string at the overhead 66kV power line. This led to a massive explosion, and he received a high-voltage electric shock, leaving him critically injured. Fortunately, no other children were nearby at the time of the accident.
Locals immediately rushed the child to Jalandhar Civil Hospital. However, due to the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to Amritsar. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
CCTV footage confirms incident
Aarav, a third-grade student, was playing in the park with other children around 4 pm when the accident took place. His grandfather, Hari Singh, stated that he had thrown a plastic object into the air when it accidentally struck the power line, causing an electric discharge. The incident, captured on CCTV, provided clarity on how the tragedy unfolded.
