Jagjit Singh Dallewal back at Khanauri border, resumes fast unto death
PTC News Desk: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who was detained by the Punjab Police, is back at Khanauri border. Dallewal left DMC Hospital in Ludhiana late Friday evening and reached the protest site where he resumed his fast unto death.
Farmer leader Sukhjit Singh Hardo Jhande is already on a death fast at the protest site.
After his release, Dallewal alleged that he was kept under house arrest during his detention. "I was abducted from Khanauri at night and admitted to the DMC Hospital. My mobile phone was taken away and other patients were not permitted to have their phones. It is the hard work and unity of farmers that led to my release," he said.
Dallewal alleged that the Punjab Police tried to force him to take medical tests and medications while he was detained. "Since I announced an indefinite fast, I did not eat anything, even in the hospital," the farmer leader added.
Meanwhile, farmers have given the central government five days to address their concerns. If no action is taken, they will march to Delhi on December 6, as scheduled.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher remarked that Dallewal's release has resulted in the decision to postpone the scheduled protest outside Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's residence. Farmers, on the other hand, are determined to continue their agitation.
