PTC Web Desk: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's fast unto death at Khanauri border entered Day 17 on Thursday. His health is rapidly deteriorating, with private doctors monitoring his condition stating that he has lost over 12 kg.

According to the latest medical bulletin, Jagjit Singh Dallewal is at severe risk of kidney failure and a potential heart attack. Doctors have also warned of liver complications due to prolonged fasting.

On Thursday, a team of government doctors sent to check on Dallewal was initially stopped by farmers. However, after presenting all medical reports to the farmers, the team was later allowed access to the farmer leader. Additionally, doctors from the United States have also arrived to examine his condition.

As Dallewal’s condition has worsened, farmers have heightened his security. On Wednesday evening, farmer leaders released a video message claiming to have received information about a possible government plan to detain Dallewal. The message alleged that the government might use force against the protesting farmers.

Meanwhile, Dallewal, who is protesting for the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and 13 other demands, is expected to address farmers on Thursday. The protest, which has been ongoing for 10 months, will complete its 10th month on December 13.

In solidarity with Dallewal’s hunger strike, farmer leaders have appealed to the public to refrain from cooking dinner at home tonight. He urged families to post photos with the hashtag #WeSupportJagjeetSinghDallewal on social media. They also called for burning effigies of the Central and state governments on December 13, criticising political parties for their lack of seriousness toward farmers' issues.
