IT dept raids Punjabi singers Ranjeet Bawa, Kanwar Grewal's premises
Chandigarh, December 19: Jalandhar-based investigation wing of the Income Tax department on Monday conducted raids at the premises of famous Punjabi singers Ranjit Bawa and Kanwar Grewal.
The development took place amid suspicions that tax evasion is being conducted at several premises in several cities of Punjab including Batala, Mohali, Bathinda and Mansa.
Besides both the singers, searches are also being conducted on the properties of their managers Deputy Vohra (Bawa’s Manager) and Harjinder Singh Ladi (Grewal’s manager).
The IT department has reportedly raided both singers because they are suspected of large-scale receipt suppression.
A cache of incriminating documents, papers relating to a number of properties, and cash have all been seized in the course of the investigation, according to sources. All of the seized documents are currently being examined to determine the extent of any tax evasion.
