High Court raps Punjab govt over delay in holding MC elections, reserves decision
PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court reserved its ruling on Monday on the matter of not holding municipal corporation and municipal council elections in Punjab.
The High Court reserved its decision and reprimanded the Punjab government for not holding elections after more than a year.
However, the Advocate General of Punjab sought an extension until March. The High Court questioned why elections cannot be held before the end of December.
Following a brief hearing, the High Court reserved its ruling and will soon decide when Punjab's Municipal Corporations and Municipal Council elections will be held.
Notably, two separate petitions were filed in the High Court, requesting elections for Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils.
