Gurbani issue: SGPC appeals to PTC channel to continue Gurbani broadcast from Golden Temple
Amritsar, July 21: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged the management of G Next Media (PTC Channel) to continue Gurbani broadcast from Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib until the panel's own satellite channel is established.
The decision comes in view of the sentiments of the Sikh community and the order given by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
SGPC general secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal, in a statement on Friday, said as the agreement with PTC Channel would expire on July 23, 2023, the SGPC would start sewa (service) of Gurbani broadcast on its YouTube/web channel from July 24, 2023. However, on the demand of Sangat from across the globe, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib had ordered the SGPC to continue broadcasting service through a channel until it established its own.
Following this, PTC channel has been asked to continue Gurbani broadcast service after consultation with the SGPC president advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Gurcharan Singh Grewal said besides establishing the web channel, the SGPC was making great efforts to establish its own satellite channel soon. He said regarding the satellite channel, a letter had been written to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
