PTC Web Desk: The BJP has expelled former Ferozepur MLA Satkar Kaur for six years following her arrest on drug trafficking charges. The party issued an official letter announcing her dismissal.

On the other hand, Satkar Kaur claimed she is being falsely implicated in the case. Speaking to the media on Thursday at the Mohali Civil Hospital, the former MLA said "she is a victim of political conspiracy".

Satkar Kaur was brought to the hospital by the police for a medical examination, accompanied by her nephew. When asked about any seizures from her residence, she denied any recoveries. She said the gold in her possession was old, and the money found in her house came from the sale of her car.

The case

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, former MLA Satkar Kaur and her nephew were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) from Ferozepur district on Wednesday. The duo was found in possession of 128 gm of heroin during the operation. The arrest came after a police tip-off from a drug addict. During the raid, Satkar Kaur’s driver allegedly attempted to run over a police official with their car, leaving him injured. Despite the driver’s attempt to escape, the police nabbed both Satkar Kaur and her driver. Along with the drugs, the police impounded a Toyota Fortuner, a BMW, and two other vehicles from her residence. Five different number plates were also recovered.

The police had received a tip from a drug addict who claimed that a woman had been forcing him to sell drugs. He provided police with call recordings. The person offered to act as a customer to lure the drug dealers, leading to Kaur’s arrest while attempting to supply drugs in Kharar.

IG Sukhchain Singh Gill, addressing the media, said the investigation was underway, with further searches being conducted. A case has been registered at the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station in Mohali.
