Chandigarh, July 19: In the wake of incessant rainfall in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, rivers and streams have swelled, following which a significant increase in water levels has been reported. Consequently, authorities have released 2.60 lakh cusecs of water into the Ujh river, which passes through the Gurdaspur district in Punjab.

Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, the Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, has issued a warning, urging people living near the Ujh and Ravi rivers to exercise caution. They have been warned to keep a safe distance from the rivers and to move their animals to higher ground as a precaution.

He stated that anyone update on a flood-like situation should call the district administration's control room at 1800-180-1852 or the flood control room at 01874-266376. The district administration is properly equipped to deal with any flood-like emergency.
