FIR registered against farmers over clash in Bathinda over land acquisition under Bharatmala project
PTC News Desk: As the standoff between farmers and police continues at Dunewala village in Punjab's Bathinda district, FIR has been registered on more than 250 farmers including several farm leaders.
Police and farmers clashed over the land acquisition under the Central Government’s Bharatmala project. The confrontation has left several police personnel injured, with three in critical condition, including a female cop. Farmers also sustained injuries during the altercation.
Case against farm leaders including Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Jhanda Singh Jethuke, Shingara Singh Mann, Harjinder Singh Baggi, Harjinder Singh Gharachon and Ajipal Ghuda has been registered at Sangat Mandi police station in Bathinda.
To disperse the protesters, the police reportedly fired tear gas shells and resorted to lathi charges. Senior officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, are actively monitoring the situation on the ground.
