Farmers Protest live updates: Farmers have retorted to rail roko agitation starting today across Punjab owing to the ongoing protest. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced that activists of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha would block rail traffic from 12 noon to 3 pm.


Commuters are expected to face inconvenience during the state-wide rail roko agitation on Wednesday. Farm leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that 23 districts spanning across state have been designated for the agitation.

The agitation is intended to ramp up the pressure on central government to engage in meaningful dialogue on their demands after their multiple attempts to enter the national capital were thwarted by Haryana police citing lack of permission from central authorities.

Pandher further urged the central government to take 'immediate' action and engage with the farmers' representatives in a 'meaningful' dialogue.
