Farmers' Delhi Kooch:  Farmers protesting at Punjab’s Shambhu border have announced a march to Delhi on January 21, intensifying their agitation for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said 101 farmers would participate in the march to press their demands. Pandher flayed the Central Government, alleging its reluctance to engage in meaningful dialogue with the farmers. “We will escalate our movement until MSP is legally guaranteed. This is a matter of national interest, and it must be addressed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure,” he declared.

Sarwan Singh Pandher also warned the government of continued protests if their demands are not met. Farmers have been demanding MSP guarantees for over 11 months, staging ongoing protests at Shambhu and Khanauri borders.

Earlier, attempts by the farmers to march to Delhi in December were thwarted by the Haryana Police, which stopped them at barricades on three separate occasions.

Meanwhile, at the Khanauri border, farmer leader jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 52 days, and his health remains critical. In solidarity, 111 farmers have also joined the hunger strike, now in its second consecutive day.

The farmers remain firm in their resolve to push for the MSP law and other demands they consider essential for the welfare of the nation’s agricultural sector.
