Farmers-Centre meeting: 5th round of talks between Central govt, farmers underway in Chandigarh over MSP, other demands
PTC Web Desk: The 5th round of talks between the Central Government and representatives of protesting farmers is currently underway in Chandigarh. A delegation of 28 farmer leaders is participating in the meeting. The farmers are protesting at the Shambu and Khanauri borders of Haryana-Punjab, demanding a Minimum Support Price (MSP) and addressing other issues.
Leading the delegation are jagjit Singh Dallewal from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Sarwan Pandher from the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. Notably, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 81 days at the Khanauri border, arrived in Chandigarh in an ambulance. Meanwhile, Sarwan Singh Pandher warned that if no resolution is reached at the meeting, farmers will march to Delhi.
On behalf of the government, Union Food Minister Prahlad Joshi and Punjab’s Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddiyan along with Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak are participating in the talks. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur is also attending the meeting.
