PTC News Desk: Amid the ongoing protest at Punjab-Haryana border, farmers have called for  'Kisan Mahapanchayat' at Khanauri border in a protest against Centre. The decision to call Kisan Mahapanchayat was called unanimously by Samyukta Kisan Morcha(non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.

jagjit Singh Dallewal is likely to address Mahapanchayat on January 4.

"On January 4, lakhs of farmers will be fathering at the Khanauri border and a Mahapanchayat will be held as leaders of both forms have decided," said farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar.

The decision comes on the heels of farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's fast unto death at Khanuri border which began on November 26. Dallewal's health continues to deteriorate as he refuses to take any medical treatment.

The Supreme Court on Saturday reprimanded Punjab Government and expressed the court's dissatisfaction over the attempts regarding Dallewal's health and their failure to hospitalise farm leader. The court also pulled up protesting farmers objecting to attempts by Punjab government.

The apex court came down heavily on both Punjab government and protesting farmers while hearing a contempt petition against the Punjab chief secretary for non-compliance with its December 20 order regarding medical aid to Dallewal.
