Explosion heard at Patiala’s Badshahpur police station, probe underway
PTC Web Desk: A powerful explosion at the Badshahpur police station in Punjab’s Patiala district has triggered panic among locals. The explosion, which occurred near the station’s wall late at night, shattered windows and alarmed residents in the vicinity.
Following the incident, senior officials, including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Patiala Range and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), rushed to the scene to assess the situation. This marks the first such attack in the Malwa region, as previous incidents were primarily reported in Punjab’s Majha belt.
According to SSP Nanak Singh, the explosion was reported late at night. Investigation teams reached the site swiftly, but no suspicious objects were recovered from the crime scene. While the police are exploring all possible angles, including a potential terror link, SSP Singh has denied confirming a grenade attack at this stage.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud blast that resonated within a half-km radius. Although no casualties have been reported, the cause of the explosion remains undetermined.
The incident has raised security concerns, particularly given past attacks on police stations in Punjab.
