Elderly couple escapes violent car chase on Delhi-Punjab route; save their lives by hiding at petrol pump
PTC Web Desk: An alarming incident occurred Friday evening involving an elderly couple traveling from Delhi Airport to Punjab. The elderly, who arrived at the Delhi airport around midnight, were picked up by their family members and set out towards their village. After departing Delhi, they stopped at Mannat Dhaba around 1.30 am for refreshments.
While at the dhaba, a car with approximately 20 to 25-year-old men began tailing them. Shortly after, the men’s vehicle overtook the couple’s car and asked them to stop. When the couple’s car stopped, the assailants, armed with baseball bats and iron rods, approached them. The driver of the couple’s vehicle quickly fled the scene to avoid confrontation.
The assailants pursued the couple’s car for 10 to 15 km at high speeds, exceeding 100 km/h. At one point, the attackers again attempted to block the vehicle, but the driver managed to evade them. During this dangerous pursuit, the couple's car even swerved onto a divider, narrowly avoiding a crash.
The elderly couple, along with another individual in the car, eventually managed to escape by reaching a remote fuel pump where they hid in the bathrooms. They locked the doors and waited until the threat subsided. The police, alerted by the couple, arrived at the fuel pump and managed to secure the area.
The assailants were described as four men in their early 20s, wearing T-shirts and equipped with sharp weapons. Further investigations are on.
