Drug menace in Punjab: Governor reiterates need for surgical strike on Pakistan, says will write to PM Modi, Amit Shah
Chandigarh, June 12: Days after Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit accused neighbouring Pakistan of pushing drugs into the Indian territory, he again on Monday reiterated the need for a surgical strike to teach Pakistan a lesson for waging a war against India.
Addressing mediapersons on Monday, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said he would write a letter in this regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. "I hope that my point will be considered," he added.
Launching a scathing attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government, the Governor said he had written at least 10 letter to the Punjab CM on various issues, but had not received reply to any so far.
On the issue of Lal Chand Kataruchak, the Governor alleged that the Punjab Government seemed to be shielding minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, who was facing “sexual misconduct” allegations. He said both Punjab Raj Bhawan and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) had raised the issue with the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government for a third time and he would continue to do the same till any reply was given.

While Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has written a letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asking what action has been taken against Kataruchak, NCSC chairperson Vijay Sampla has issued a fresh notice to the Chief Secretary, the DGP and DIG (border range) Amritsar after the government's alleged failure to submit an action taken report despite two notices earlier.
Notably, a man, in a video message, recently accused Lal Chand Kataruchak of forcing him into a sexual relationship on the pretext of facilitating a government job for him.
To a query on a special session called by the Punjab Government on June 19 and 20, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said he would definitely give the permission if the government approached him for the same.
