The evicted people told the chairperson of the SC commission that they were not even heard before the demolition and nor was the law fully followed. They alleged that land mafia is responsible for whole matter and their land has been vacated by declaring it as the land of Improvement Trust.
Chairman Vijay Sampla condemned Punjab government’s move and said that people have been forced out of their homes and driven to streets in such harsh weather, that too without any rehabilitation relief for the affected families.
So far, the Punjab government and the district administration have not made any arrangements for the relief of the homeless people. Robin Sampla said that the Punjab government and district administration have failed to provide relief but despite of it, people have fulfilled their responsibility and many social organizations have come forward to help.
