Contractual Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS staff continue strike; commuters hit
Mohali, December 17: The strike by contractual staff of Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS continued on Saturday with commuters facing the brunt of it. Elderly and women commuters are the hard hit. Although a meeting of the Punjab Roadways Union with the Punjab Government was held on December 16, it remained inconclusive.
Commuters continue to face hardships as buses from Chandigarh to Punjab are not plying. They are being forced to travel via private taxis and other expensive mode of travel.

Office-bearers of the contract workers’ union of the Punjab Roadways and PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) will now be meeting Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua on Monday. "If there is an agreement between the government and the union on this stage, then people are expected to get some relief" said sources.

They are protesting against outsourcing of 28 drivers and seeking job regularisation and salary increase. The union has been protesting for long to get their demands implemented, but in vain.
