Chandigarh and Punjab weather update: Cold wave warning issued as temperatures to drop further
PTC Web Desk: Residents of Chandigarh and Punjab witnessed slight relief from the biting cold as temperatures rose marginally on Saturday. However, the Meteorological Department has warned of a sharp dip in temperatures over the next two days, issuing a cold wave alert for the region.
Starting Sunday, dense fog is expected to envelop Punjab, reducing visibility to below 100 metre. Pathankot continues to record the state's lowest minimum temperature, with the mercury dipping to 1.7°C on Friday.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, and Faridkot. While the mornings are expected to remain foggy, clear skies and sunny afternoons are anticipated.
Western disturbance to impact weather from December 27
A cyclonic circulation observed in Rajasthan is likely to affect some parts of Punjab. Additionally, a new western disturbance is predicted to become active from December 27, bringing possible snowfall in the hilly regions. If snowfall occurs, its effects are likely to be felt in the plains as well.

Patiala: Light fog in the morning; temperatures between 5°C and 19°C.
Mohali: Light fog in the morning; temperatures between 6°C and 20°C.
