CCTV footage of explosion outside Manoranjan Kalia's house surface, 2 arrested

Kalia is a former Cabinet minister and former president of Punjab BJP. He is also a member of the BJP's national executive.

CCTV footage of explosion outside Manoranjan Kalia's house surface, 2 arrested

PTC News Desk: A CCTV footage of the explosion outside the BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia's residence in Punjab's Jalandhar has been surfaced. The video shows an assailant coming on an e-rickshaw and hurling the explosives before fleeing which is suspected to be a grenade attack.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 2 individual in connection with the case. Two gangsters, Zeeshan Akhtar and Shahzad Bhatti, were conspirators, ADGP Arpit Shukla, said this in a press conference.


According to Punjab police the attack was carried out by Lawrence Bishnoi gang along with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).


Kalia is a former Cabinet minister and former president of Punjab BJP. He is also a member of the BJP's national executive.

A blast was reported outside the residence of former cabinet minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday in Punjab's Jalandhar. Police officials have said that they are monitoring the situation to see whether it was a grenade attack or something else.

Meanwhile, Kalia said that initially he thought that it is a sound of thunder. 

"There was a blast at around 1 am...I was sleeping, and I thought that it was the sound of thunder...Later, I was informed that a blast had taken place...after this, I sent my gunman to the police station...CCTV is being investigated; forensic experts are also present here..."

Some damage to the floor of the entrance and his SUV was reported. Kalia further added that he was sleeping when he heard the loud sound of explosion and suspected to be explosion in transformer because of overloading.   

No casualties were reported in the incident.
