Car headed to Srinagar overturns in Pathankot: 2 Delhi residents dead, four hurt as driver reportedly dozed off
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic road accident near Madhopur in Pathankot, Punjab, two persons were killed and four others sustained serious injuries when a car lost control and crashed early this morning. The vehicle, an Innova with Delhi registration (DL 10 CX 8104), was en route from Delhi to Srinagar with six occupants onboard.
According to preliminary reports, the car lost balance and veered off the road near Madhopur, leading to the fatal accident. The deceased have been identified as Sushil Kumar and Naresh Kumar, both residents of Delhi. The remaining four passengers were severely injured and have been admitted to different hospitals in Pathankot.
Local residents rushed to the spot and assisted in rescuing the victims. Unfortunately, the two persons were declared dead at the scene. The bodies have been sent to the Pathankot Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Initial investigations by the Sujanpur police suggest that the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, leading to the loss of control and the accident. A detailed inquiry into the incident is currently underway.
