Amritsar: Devotees throng Golden Temple to welcome New Year 2023
Amritsar, January 1: On the first day of the New Year 2023, a huge gathering of devotees from the across the country and abroad paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Despite the bone-chilling cold and dense fog, devotees were full of enthusiasm and were seen taking holy dip in Sarovar.

In view of the arrival of the devotees, the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee also made proper arrangements for accommodation, langar, medical assistance and parking and adequate security arrangements were made by the police.
Former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal also paid obeisance at Sri Harimandar Sahib along with their families.
The crowd had started gathering in the Golden Temple from late evening itself. Due to the crowd, people had to struggle even to enter inside the Golden Temple. Devotees were seen all around the Golden Temple even for the parikrama. Wherever people got a place, they sat there and started waiting for 12 o'clock in the night. As soon as it was 12 o'clock in the night and the new year started, the entire Golden Temple echoed with the cheers of Jo Bole So Nihal. Today, on the first day of the new year, a huge crowd of devotees has started gathering since morning.
A special langar has also been arranged for the devotees in the Golden Temple on New Year.
